found out

you pulled out a card that was tucked in the edge of a park sign
is there a god?

it would have been intriguing
had it been left at that
an invitation to ponder in a cathedral
of wood and leaves and soil

but there was a phone number printed on the back

someone on the other end
with coercive intentions
and suddenly the magic was gone
and soon yours would be too

a scattering of open-ended suggestions
one thing so often led to another for you

just as planned

did you ever call the number?
did you ever find out?
