BIO:
Carrie Voigt Schonhoff, a poet and author rooted in the heart of Wisconsin, has self-published three poetry collections: The Liminal Space, The End of the Beginning, and Shadow Work, all written for those navigating life’s challenges while holding tight to their dreams. These books explore themes of healing, transformation, and the quiet courage it takes to begin again. At their core is a belief that poetry can be a bridge—helping us connect, understand, and find comfort in one another's stories.
Her work has appeared in the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets' Calendar, Bramble Magazine, The Solitary Plover, and Spirit Lake Review.
Beyond the page, Carrie has taken her poetry on a national and international book tour, sharing stories and verses across borders. She regularly hosts poetry jams at local elementary and middle schools, inspiring young voices to find their own creative rhythm. Her passion for music has led to the creation of original songs, some of which she performs live—blending spoken word with melody. Whether traveling to new cities or performing on stage, Carrie finds joy in the intersections of poetry, music, and human connection.

Poetry
Turn the Page
I slid the worn strap over my shoulder,
pulled a pick from the fretboard,
and tuned half a step down
to take advantage of the sharper chords.
But then all at once I placed my palm
on the taught strings,
realizing silence
might be the most memorable note.
Heal
In the small town I look up at the crescent moon and
the water tower with its painted carousel;
middle earth is where everything grows.
I dreamt of a fluorite necklace.
It found me the next day
at the fair-trade market—
I should buy a bowl of tumbled gems
and sprinkle them in my house
or hold one in my hand while I sleep
or put a crown over my brow
to heal or clear the worry I own.
