Diary of a Disabled Veteran

Sylvia Bowersox

I miss practicing my ideas
I miss my opinions being safe
I miss leaving my house
I miss not being afraid
I miss friends
I miss surprises
I miss a good night sleep
I miss my son
I miss the Army
I miss doing my duty
I miss my father
I miss my mother
I miss things being difficult and liking it
I miss not jumping at loud noises
I miss walking down the street and getting lost
I miss going to strange cities on my own
I miss not taking pills
I miss not having a team of doctors
I miss saying whatever I want and still having friends
I miss concerts
I miss happy dreams
I miss crowds
I miss fireworks
I miss feeling invincible
I miss firing my weapon at the range
I miss wearing a uniform
I miss doing my duty
I miss the flag
I miss deployments
I miss working my butt off and feeling good
I miss feeling good
I miss being a part of things
I miss me
